vidIQ MCP server: vidIQ's own, not YouTube's

vidIQ runs its own MCP server at https://mcp.vidiq.com/mcp. It is vidIQ's product, not YouTube's or Google's, and uses vidIQ's data, not the YouTube Data API [1][2]. Every vidIQ plan includes it, Free too; most tool calls spend vidIQ credits [1].

How to connect

ChatGPT: install vidIQ's app and sign in [1].

Claude directory listing: quickest, but read-only, with no thumbnail generation, AI video, music, voiceovers, comment-reply drafts, chapters or video changes [1].

Claude custom connector (full tool set): Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste the URL below, sign in to vidIQ. Claude's free plan allows only one custom connector [1].

Credits

  • On Free, Boost and Max, calls spend the same credits as vidIQ's other AI features [1]
  • Most research tools: 5 credits a call. Shorts or Reels analysis: 10. Video Watch: 25 [1]
  • Video details or thumbnail update: 5 credits each. Thumbnail generation or editing: 22 [1]
  • Clips: 9 credits per source minute; with no time range the whole video is charged (60 minutes: 540 credits) [1]
  • Every generation is charged, retries included; failed jobs are refunded. Unused monthly credits do not carry over [1]
  • A paid Claude plan adds no vidIQ credits, and a vidIQ plan does not include Claude [1]

Approvals

  • vidIQ says your AI should show the exact change and wait for your approval; YouTube may ask you to verify your account first [1].
  • For research only, use an API key or the Claude directory version: both are read-only, and keys can be revoked at any time [2].
  • Generated voiceovers and videos arrive as links that expire after about 12 hours [1].
